These are samples made with a homebuild e-drumkit with a Hart Pro Snaredrum, as the snaredrum has to be perfect - And Hart is.
The cymbals are ordinary brass, the cheapest because they do not have to sound good ;-) They just have to trigger the right way.
Everything is transformed into midi with a Alesis trigger i/o. Now, this i/o is working very good with my kit but it lacks positional sensing. That's a shame and you can hear that on the snare sounds when close samples make it 'machinegun' sometimes.
The PC is a desktop, 32 bit Windows XP-pro with a 8400 dualcore cpu and 4gb ram, 500 gb sata and last but not least a ESI Juli@t. A great sound for just a few euro's - Gives you almost zero latency (Cakewalk shows 0.3ms at 48 khz).
BDF is a very flexible softdrum app with outstanding sounds. Together with a daw like Cakewalk you can have the sound you want.
Here are some samples of FXpansion's BDFJazz and Funk kit. Cakewalk's preset's are 96khz 24bit, midi-record, mixdown to 44khz 16bit to Lame 250 mp3:
